Be it storage sheds, garden sheds, or any other type of shed, a shed is normally a simple, single level building used for any number of activities, including but certainly not limited to storage, personal interests and activities.

The dictionary definition of shed is a structure built for shelter or storage, or for use as a workshop, either a separate building or attached to a permanent building as a lean-to. Shed sizes and styles can vary a great deal, starting with small open sided shelters used on farms to keep animal feed dry, to large ornate buildings with many of the same features used in home construction.

We're happy to introduce the launch of our shed blog - we're trying to put together a comprehensive source of information, photos and more importantly, first hand experience from users just like you.

So please take a few minutes and share with us all!

The most simple and least expensive shed types are those typically found at your local home supply store. These inexpensive sheds are usually constructed from tin, aluminum or plastic and come in a "ready to assemble" format. Used for those with very basic needs, such as a place to keep the lawn mower and bikes dry - low cost is the primary concern in purchasing a shed of this nature.

For those still in need of a small shed, but prefer a little more style, wooden shed kits are the answer. Wooden sheds can include 5 sided corner sheds, lean to sheds, commonly built against the side of a house, as well as square, rectangle and salt box styles. Anything under 100 square feet would be classified as a "small shed".

For those looking for a dual function shed, or perhaps something that's not really even a shed, such as a garden office, or workshop shed, larger, wood sheds are normally preferred. Due to their size, more design options exist for large sheds - from modern urban designs to more traditional styles.

Large sheds exceed 100 square feet in size and will include design features and options normally found in home construction; including opening thermal windows, full insulation packages, electrical and plumbing and the interiors are usually finished with either drywall or wood interior siding.

Used for a wide variety of utilitarian purposes. From a safe and secure place to store bikes and other backyard toys, to storing household items, storage sheds range from the basic lean to, to larger more complex designs.

Not to be confused with pool cabanas used more for entertaining, the pool shed is used to house the pool equipment. Heaters, filters, and pumps reside here, providing an environmentally controlled and central location for the pool gear.

Used exclusively for gardening, the potting shed comes in many flavors, the most popular being the "Salt Box" style. This style is popular because of it's unique roof line and is commonly used as a potting shed.
